When is the best time of year to schedule senior portraits?

This question often comes up when I am speaking with parents of seniors: when is the best time of year to take senior portraits? Fall? Spring? Lord knows in the season of life where our children are graduating high school, life is full, messy and has enough complications going on already that scheduling your baby’s senior portrait session shouldn’t have to be one!

The answer is really simple: ANY.

Now that may not be the answer you want because it offers no direction and leaves you with the same question hanging: when is the best time of year to schedule my senior portraits?

The advice I give my clients is instead of asking yourself when the best season is for photos (because any photographer you’re paying to take these should be able to produce quality images no matter the season) is to instead ask yourself: which season best represents your senior?

Do you have a fall baby or a spring? Do you want stadium lights or wildflowers? The best time of year to schedule your senior portrait session is the time of year that best represents your senior. The time of year that embodies them. Do they prefer the falling of the leaves or the birth of new growth? Instead of trying to fit your senior into the answer, allow your senior to create it.

From my heart to yours,

Amanda
